2012 Contest Entry.

I had been wanting to enter this contest since way back when it was still in the planning. I just thought it was an absolutely wonderful theme that could potentially be a great challenge as well as heaps of fun.
I just never got around to it. Other things kept coming up, and it just kept slipping my mind.
Fortunately, however, just the other day I made-over my graphics 'hub'. Connecting my old TV up to my little laptop, I now have a huge-ass 20-something inch screen to create things on.
I was testing it out, thinking what I should create first with my sick new setup, and I remembered this contest. Just in time, too: the deadline is only two days away!
Three nights, a few hours each sitting, and this came into being. About 200 layers this one took. Oh, and this is about one quarter the size of the original. I almost killed Photoshop. Again.
I like it. It's not quite as epic as I was first intending it to be. I'm afraid I went a little generic with my entry, taking ideas straight from the trailer of the modern movie re-make. But c'mon, blue glow-y birds and giant mushrooms are pretty awesome.. how could I not? I had many more grand plans for it, but to add them all in, I think, would be overkill. For the image, Photoshop and myself alike.
There are a few absolutely amazing entries already, so I'm really excited to see how the placings turn out. Best of luck to everyone entering!
