commission -- KALOOA

2011 Commission Request.
Commission for *Rivanna, of her friend *BullRidingCowgirl's horse Kalooa.
When *Rivanna commissioned me to create this piece, I was a little overwhelmed with pressure; the beautiful Clydesdale featured belonged to her friend, and had just recently passed away. I was asked to please create an image as a tribute to Kalooa, as a gift for her friend. You can read Kalooa's heartbreaking story here: [link] (be warned, tears will ensue)
I was very honoured to be chosen for the task and swore I would try my hardest to create something that would do Kalooa justice.
I wanted to keep this piece very simple, so as not to draw focus from Kalooa. The lens flare was a last-minute addition, as I felt something was missing from the image. I have set it quite bright. Please let me know what you think of it; is it necessary/is it too bright/does it detract from the image/does it draw too much focus from the subject/etc.
I also noticed that *BullRidingCowgirl was a fellow Australian, so decided to keep this piece Australian-only. Australian field, Australian gum tree, Australian sunset.
I sincerely hope I have done your beautiful girl some kind of justice, and that I have created something that you can treasure and use to help keep Kalooa in your hearts and memories always.
